Umezu Kazuo's The Exorcist

Horror manga meister Umezu Kazuo repaints The Exorcist as a giallo-style Technicolor nightmare in this eight-page promo from the July 7, 1974 issue of Shonen Sunday. The feature ran a week before the film’s Japanese release and a week after the final chapter of his classic Drifting Classroom.

Coincidentally Umezu’s follow-up serial, Baptism, is also centered on a young girl possessed--except the daughter is under threat by her very mother, not the Devil. Though if you follow the thread of maternal terror leading to his recent film, the tellingly titled Mother, to Umezu there may be no difference.
